The best people, the finest businesses, can end up in court

Let's make the legal system work for you

A disagreement, even an accident, can grow into a challenging legal dispute over payment, rent, compensation or damages.

If you’ve suffered a loss, you want to be compensated. If you've been sued, you want to protect and preserve your assets, and your legal rights, in a timely, cost-effective way. You want to minimize the drain on your time and your business, and cap your “legal spend.” While the ultimate “decider” may be the judge or jury, often the outcome can be predicted, sometimes well in advance, based on a careful investigation and analysis of the facts and the law. Often a negotiated settlement can be achieved without going to trial, sparing legal fees for all concerned. You need to understand your legal options and the costs associated with moving forward, before the conflict spins out of control, so you can take control.

Let's make the legal system work for you.

My passion is resolving legal disputes, so you can put the problem behind you and move forward. Cases resolve either through trial or settlement. My experience includes over 30 jury trials on behalf of individuals and businesses throughout Northern California. While trial is always an option, letting strangers decide your case should typically be the last resort. Often a negotiated settlement is best all around.

Should you settle or fight? Where the stakes are high, early assessment of your risks and options is key. Shrewd businesses appreciate the importance of an early evaluation of the merits of each case, coupled with budgeting their "legal spend," as the smartest way to weigh the options and choose the best course of action.

I have defended national and commercial clients such as Macy's and The Emporium, UPS, J. C. Penney, and many smaller businesses and individuals. My cases have involved contract disputes, premises liability, products liability, deficient services, and traffic and trucking accidents. One dramatic UPS case was turned around when our appeal succeeded; eventually we recouped over $1 million for our client.

On the plaintiff's side, after a three-week jury trial, I recovered a jury verdict of $973,000--at the height of the banking crisis in 2008-- for the estate of an elderly man who was victimized by his bank.

I have represented employers in wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment cases, and have defended lender/broker liability cases.
